For military families, getting adjusted to a new base can be an often overwhelming experience. Between moving into a new home, getting in-processed correctly and settling into new work and family environments, there’s more than enough on the to-do list for parents to worry about. The additional concern of finding a suitable education option for children can easily tip the scale.
Luckily for families on Joint Base Andrews, there is a resource dedicated to helping alleviate the stress of finding the right school solution: Sharon Moore, who serves as the on-base School Liaison Officer. Working out of an office in the Military and Family Support Center, Moore’s role is to serve military families in matters concerning school-age children, such as relocation and deployment issues, school transition, student/parent advocacy, school- or district-level special education system navigation, home-schooling support, post-secondary school preparation, and other family-related issues.
