MISSION STATEMENT: To link families of fallen Airmen and Guardians to their Air and Space Force family promoting survivor resilience, thereby fostering well-being and connectedness.
VISION STATEMENT: Remembering, Honoring, Connecting… Always a part of the Air and Space Force family.
AFFF PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Air Force Families Forever (AFFF) is a long-term survivor aftercare program established to provide support to family members of deceased Regular Air Force and Reserve Component Airmen and Guardians who died in an Active Duty, Inactive Duty for Training (IDT), or Annual Training (AT) status and whose relationship was established prior to the Airman or Guardian’s death. This includes Regular Air Force, Guard, and Reserve Airmen and Guardians. Procedures have been devised to provide support to eligible Next-of-Kin (NOK)* through Airman & Family Readiness Centers (A&FRCs) at installations closest to where the survivor resides.
*Next of Kin (NOK): widow or widower (remarried or not), each parent (mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, mother through adoption, father through adoption, foster parents who stood in loco parentis), each child (natural, step-children, adopted), and each sibling (brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, step-sibling) of an Airman or Guardian.
OUTREACH: Your local AFFF team will reach out to surviving family members to provide ongoing support and resources.
INFORMATION AND REFERRAL: Referral is provided to eligible federal, state, and local resources to include partnering non-governmental organizations.
EVENTS: Throughout the year, we will send announcements and invitations to events of interest in our local area and nationally. In past years, we have been invited to Gold Star Christmas Events at the White House and received priority seating and recognition at the National Memorial Day Concert at the Capital.
INSTALLATION ACCESS: We can help eligible Next of Kin obtain ID cards and base access for installation-approved Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities.
OTHER RESOURCES: We can help you locate resources to help with a variety of issues, including general support, grief support, local events, and financial counseling. We can also connect you with experts on VA benefits, Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC), Survivors Pension, Service Member Group Life Insurance (SGLI), burial expenses, state benefits, military records, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), and Tricare.
National Resource Directory: List of vetted resources for survivors.
State/Territory Benefits: Find out what benefits are available to you in your area.
Snowball Express: The Gary Sinise Foundation Snowball Express serves the children of fallen military heroes.
