Airman Leadership School ICE Comment

The CMSAF Donald L. Harlow Airman Leadership School is the sole Airman Leadership School (ALS) for Airmen assigned to the National Capital Region. It is a 24 academic-day Professional Military Education program, which trains Senior Airmen and newly-selected Staff Sergeant candidates to prepare them for accession into the NCO corps. The class imparts Professional Military Education in the areas of Air Force Culture, Mission, Leadership and Problem-Solving. Unlike other courses which evaluate one’s knowledge and comprehension using end-of-course exams, this course incorporates in-class exercises as well as performance tasks to assess student learning. The course culminates in a Capstone exercise designed to test the students’ ability to instill the Air Force core values in others, communicate their contribution to the wing and Air Force missions, collaborate and connect with members of the Air Force team, and apply cognitive strategies to solve Air Force problems. Each class is comprised of up to four (4) flights with 16 students per flight.
